crazy lady hair muffins

Sunday was the day of the 10-10 shift. yay!

The guests who had been a problem all weekend checked out and were predictably upset about their bills, believing that they had been told information that was contrary to what they were now paying, despite us checking out the rest of their group who didn't say anything about their charges. A woman whose room was "infested" with flies (actual quantity unknown), a woman who didn't know that her second level accomodation would have stairs, etc.

I don't want it to seem like I am saying that you shouldn't complain about anything in hotels. If you need more towels, ask for them. If you don't get them, then complain. Don't ask for more towels, get them and then ask for a discount because they didn't put "enough" (by your standards) in your room at the begining. If you move a couch in your room and there are candy wrappers under it then call and tell the front desk and give them the chance to fix it before you wig out about it.

After a small to medium sized check in with very few problems the rest of the night was absolutely dead.

The imprompty honeymooners from a few entries ago (called on the road from their wedding, wanted the best (and cheapest) room for a week) checked out and dithered about their bill to the tune of us refunding them 88$ but our cash was still over at the end of the night which means that we took in at least 90$ that is unaccounted for. Which is both a good and bad thing.

Today was one of the summer worker's last shifts and another more full time employee gave her two weeks notice so things will be interesting come september. Which is good timing, because I won't work there then :)

The woman I was working with last night at one point got a call from a guest wondering what channel a certain network was on our tvs. Apperently at some point in the last month the satalite at our resort (which is a totally bizare system involving 27 recievers which each get programmed to stay on one channel and then pipe that channel into one of the channels on the tv from 2-28) got messed up and we got 5 comedy channels but no basic cable. So my co-worker goes over to a vacant room to try and figure out what channel to tell the guest and the room is a DISASTER AREA. I have long maintained that we shouldn't be giving out keys to rooms that havn't been cleaned by housekeeping just to "let people see them" but this really proves my point. According to co-worker there were dirty diapers on the couch, tea bags ripped apart and thrown all over the carpet, papers everywhere, etc etc.

A certain amount of dis-order is to be expected with small kids in a hotel room...but really!

Oh, and I'm not sure if I wrote previously about the slightly crazy lady and her "there's just something kind of "off" about him" son. I personally talked to her 3 times about how to get to the resort, then apperently her bike fell off her car on the highway, she called every 3 minutes on the drive in from the highway...just very nervous and needy. Now, granted, I don't know what her personal situation is but she's just very...odd. Somewhat flighty and vapid. Example: she was startled when she pulled on the door to registration and it opened towards her. Anyway, her son brought us muffins up to the front desk, which is super nice of them but when we opened the muffins there was a hair baked into one muffin and leading over to another muffin. I had so much diet coke last night that I was kind of wigging out and this, while logically not that disgusting, almost had me throwing up.
Hence, this entry's title.
