Crazyness Ensues

Oh My Goodness!
Today was insanity. To set the stage, we have 2 weddings and two groups on site as well as one group leaving today.

My shift was supposed to start at 8 but I always try to arrive about 15 to 10 minutes early because if there is only one agent in the office things are inevitably insane. I arrived at 7:45 only to have Louise fly out the door on a million guest/bride related errands.

We had a group in who had taken probably 55 rooms, all of them with 2 people in them who were checking out today. They were extremely disorganized. They ended up leaving all of their luggage in a room that was being set up for a wedding later in the day and so maintenance had to move it all (over 100 pieces apperently) up from the meeting room where they had stashed it. It invaded the reception area, making it virtually impossible for guests to check in. Additionally, this group leaving had meetings all morning and so basically none of them checked out of their rooms, they just packed up their luggage and left the key in the room. None of them actually owed us any money but the housekeeping department had to clean 70 rooms today and it's difficult to get started when you don't know who is still in their room and who isn't!

The phone rang off the hook all day long with people wanting to book, people needing directions, people asking where our ice machines were located, etc etc.

Today's tip to the public: If you have special needs or someone in your room does tell the reservation agent when you make the reservation. If a resort is sold out there is no way that we can read your mind and know that the person sharing your room is 100 years old and can't negotiate stairs, and we don't have an elevator.

I ended up working until 5pm today because things were so busy. With 4 different groups checking in and everyone needing specific itinerary information and wanting to know every one else's room number.
