We like to call it "a step up from camping"

Today I was scheduled to work from 11am until 9 pm. Shifts at resort X are really all over the place. Standard hotel shifts are 7-3, 3-11 and then 11-7, today Tracy worked 7am till 11am, Luice worked 7am until 3pm, Caitlin worked from 3 untill 11 and Krista worked from 11pm until 7am.

The day started out with check outs, once again, but only about 20 or 25 of them which was exciting in its simplicity. The restaurant called up to say that the people in cottage 6 had room charged 115$ worth of food at breakfast but she couldn't figure out how to post it to their bill so I did it. Turns out that it wasn't cottage 6 at all. Eek. We finally figured out who the charge belonged to and yelled at the restaurant to check room keys and ask the guest to print their name if they can't make out the signature. Honestly people! This happens all the time at the restaurant and the main problem is that the manager is totally disorganized and incompetant. In the middle of the day today she went home to shower and have a nap. There is a wedding reception for 120 people at the restaurant that starts at 4 and as of 11am the restaurant was still serving breakfast!

When I arrived Lonnie was looking very stressed (and was at work on a saturday, which never happens). It turns out that one of the group participants who were in last night in a room that overlooks the beach had thrown a hissy fit about a bonfire that a bride and groom were having on the beach. The other people in the same building including the convineer of the group heard nothing. The guest wanted Lonnie to go down to his room to discuss the matter and she refused because of the fact that the guy was a psyco and could very likely attack her with an axe or something.

Additionally the restaurant Betsy apperently had a minor breakdown the night before and every one on staff belives that she would be totally justified in walking off the job and not looking back. The restaurant never reads the agendas that they are given and then give Betsy a hard time saying that she doesn't give them enough notice.

Let's see..what else happened. Lots of giving of information about the resort and the surrounding areas. Quite a few walk in guests, which was unfortunate that we were totally booked (well, unfortunate for them in that we had only very limited accomodation, aka cabins with no a/c). I gave a cute guy with a picky girlfriend and a family of 6 deals and charged the full rate to a rude man in an expensive car.

Working with Caitlin was actually fun, she said I was fun to work with so that was good. We talked alot about nothing from 6-9 because it was so slow around the desk and phones.

One of the computers is still down, which is a big giant pain in the bum.
